Majid Abbasi Farahani

Majid Abbasi Farahani was born in Tehran in 1979, and has pursued the arts ever since his adolescence. Though Majeed studied architecture at University, he soon left his programme to focus his attention on his art, and in 2004, held his first solo exhibition. Since then, Majeed has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Iran, as well as around the world, such as in Italy and South America. In addition, he has been a longstanding member of the Society of Iranian Painters.

Majeed’s work explores a variety of subjects, mostly personal and political. Much of Majeed’s later works feature images and sentiments relating to the Iran-Iraq war (1980 – 1988), as well as post-Revolutionary Iran in general. In his latest works, Majeed has also been experimenting with new media, particularly light, as well as dynamite and bullets, among others.
